New Grant for Nurses Holding Bilingual Positions!

The Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund (NRRF) is committed to enhancing the delivery of health services in the province of Manitoba, by addressing issues of nursing supply.

To recruit nurses to work in a recognized bilingual/ francophone facility or program, the NRRF supports the allocation of funding to eligible Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Nurses Extended Practice (RN-EP), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN), and Licensed Practical Nurses for a return of service commitment.

Public Consultation: Accessibility Legislation

The Accessibility Advisory Council, formed in autumn of 2011, is proposing legislation aimed at preventing and removing barriers faced by persons with disabilities.  The Council wants the public’s views on accessibility legislation and has organized a public consultation for this purpose:

Registration:  12:30 (consultation will take place between 13:00 and 16:00)
in Embassy Rooms A, B and C
at the Victoria Inn at 1808 Wellington Avenue in Winnipeg

French-Language Mental Illness Support Groups

Agir! pour ma santé : La dépression et comment y faire face

Looking for participants for a study in connection with a support group for those suffering from depression. This support group:

  • is offered in French and is free;
  • encourages physical activity and a healthy diet;
  • is targeted towards those 18 and over; and
  • is offered by the St-Boniface Health Centre and the Université de Saint-Boniface.

Alzheimer’s Information and Support Group

The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba offers a French-language group for those who are close to someone who suffers from Alzheimer’s or another dementia.  The objective of the meetings is to provide information and tools, in a respectful sharing environment, for living with and caring for them.

Location:  Villa Aulneau (Multi-Purpose Room), located at 601 Aulneau Street in St-Boniface
Date:  the 4th Tuesday of each month
Time:  from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
