Annual Breakfast in Support of L’Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines

The third annual breakfast in support of L’Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines, which provides safety and support for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence, will take place:

from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
in room Promenade B at the Norwood Hotel
located at 112 Marion Street in St-Boniface

Bintou Sacko, Manager of the Accueil francophone and former Entre-temps resident, will be the keynote speaker and there will be jewellery, beauty products and decorations on sale as well as door prizes and a silent auction!

Tickets are available at $35 through 233-ALLÔ.

Triple P Training in French

The Positive Parenting Program (“Triple P”) is a helpful, practical approach to raising children that focuses on the positive. Triple P uses strong, nurturing relationships, good communication and positive attention to help children develop. It helps create a family setting that is loving, supportive and predictable.

The program uses easy-to-follow suggestions for small changes that make big differences to parents, children and families. It is proven to be very successful in developing good attitudes and behaviour.

Healthy Child Manitoba will offer two Triple P training sessions in French between the 5th and the 8th of December, 2011. This training is for:

  • social workers;
  • parent educators;
  • school specialists;
  • school counsellors;
  • nurses;
  • community mental health workers; and
  • paramedical professionals.

Medical Sciences Discovery Day at the U of M

Approximately 320 high school students and teachers from across Manitoba will have an opportunity to explore careers in medicine and the other health sciences. Participants will hear an inspiring keynote lecture, take part in interactive workshops and join in discussion with a panel of health care professionals and academics.

Date: November 4th, 2011
Location: Basic Medical Sciences Building, 730 William Avenue (Winnipeg)

Registration will close on Thursday, October 20th.

Programming in French for Dealing With Chronic Illness

Get Better Together! is a free six-week French-language program to help people with a chronic illness take control of their health and:

  • Manage pain;
  • Deal with fatigue and frustration;
  • Increase their energy level;
  • Use their medications more effectively;
  • Eat well to live well;
  • Start an exercise program;
  • Set and meet their goals;
  • Talk to their health care professional;
  • Solve problems and make better choices.

Meetings will take place:
